Two electromagnetic lifting installations supplied by Felemamg for Russia, for turning and handling slabs at high temperatures, have recently been successfully commissioned.
Each installation is composed by a fixed beam with two special electromagnets for handling and turning slabs at high temperatures (up to 600ºC) and a weight of up to 40t, type FES-ES.
The construction of this type of magnets is special, designed to withstand the toughest services of the large steel factory. They have a double magnetic circuit, a main and an auxiliary one, to allow the electromagnet to rotate on the piece when it is turned over.
It is completed with state-of-the-art electrical power and control equipment, with an emergency lead battery system and power supply to the electromagnets by constant intensity, which allows us to maintain the same level of lifting force during all working hours.
In addition, it incorporates a continuous control system of all the variables of the installation giving lectures at all times the levels of overvoltage, overcurrent, temperature of the magnet, etc., to guarantee the status and availability of the entire installation at all times.
They are also designed to work in harsh environmental conditions, with a minimum temperature of -40ºC.
